Benefits of Injection Molding
Injection molding is a process used to manufacture and produce parts in immense quantities. It is often the process chosen in the manufacturing of same part in the thousands.
Material for the part is fed into a heated barrel, mixed, and then injected into a mold where it cools and hardens, assuming the shape of the mold. The part may be a tiny piece of a medical device or an entire panel in an automobile.
This ability to scale production in such large quantities results in a reduction of the price per unit. It also results in less scrap; less waste further reducing the cost. One of the most desirable benefits of injection molding is the ability to create just what the designer wants, each piece being virtually identical.
